About Our Farm
It began with an idea and a passion to bring people and horses together and create a lifelong experience unlike any other. Nestled in a rural community in the heart of Kentucky, our farm rests on 47 acres of wooded paradise. Featuring a picturesque creek, a wildflower meadow, and native wildlife, Insomniac Farms is truly a place to immerse yourself in nature's beauty. The farm is completely powered by solar, with plans to be fully self-sustaining in the future. Other future plans also include a track system for our trail horses; based on the Paddock Paradise model, which is the most natural way to keep horses, encouraging movement and foraging to promote our horses' health and keep them comfortable throughout their life. We also offer organic, free-range farm fresh eggs, straight from our flock of happy hens. We hope to be able to educate others on our farm model and promote biodiversity and land sustainability for those interested in starting their own journey.
Our Philosophy
We believe in a natural, species-appropriate and equine-centric approach to keeping horses. We use positive reinforcement and natural horsemanship techniques to train our horses, and strive to foster trusting relationships with our horses. Our horses live outside year-round, with access to shade and shelter, in a social herd. They are also barefoot, and use hoof boots for riding, as well as eating a forage-based diet. These methods keep our horses happy, healthy, and as stress-free as possible!
